- Sometime plastic containers sneak into our lives. Ever notice that the water dosnt taste as good if you refill you plastic water bottle? Turns out that there is some evidence that as they get crumpled, the amount of toxins they leach into the water increases. Choosing containers made from #2, #4 or #5 plastic for reuse and #1, #3 and #6 for recycling may decrease the potential harm from reusing containers.

- A few months ago I happened across National Geograhics article on the carbon foot print of shipping wines across the US and around the world. It impressed further on me the importance of how things get to you, not just how far they have come. My most recent experience with this concerned toilet paper. Almost all recycled toilet paper comes out of Canada (thats a lot of truckin). We are now buying tree free toilet paper from China. They also made disposable plates etc. That at least is a huge improvement over corn based disposable plates.
